HotorNot.com is a sort of unique dating site and app. Well, at least unique in their approach. You play a match game called Encounters in which you get matched with other users and is supposed to find people near you who share your interest. It seemed a bit cutting edge so I checked it out. I found that it wasn’t as unique as I thought. Although there were real members, it was next to impossible to actually connect with any of them. Read my review and I’ll tell you why I think it’s another dating website scam. However, before I get into the real details, I want to say how wrong it is for the site to claim that 308 million people use this site. That’s impossible. It would be the biggest dating site in the world, and I promise that it’s definitely not!
HotorNot.com Website Overview
For the most part, I must say that I liked HotorNot.com, but not to find a date or meet someone to hookup. Instead, I liked it just for pure amusement. It was just kind of fun to navigate and nice to browse and make fun of some of the idiotic profiles. What I didn’t like is that I didn’t get any more results than I did on any of the other scam sites I’ve tried. I have seen HotorNot advertised before, so they definitely put themselves out there, but there’s not much to latch on to. I will say that they have found a unique way to scam you. It seems modern and cutting edge, but it is just a front for more scamming practices to get your money. I have fallen for these kinds of sites before which is why I wanted to look deeper into it to be able to let people know how it is. The cost of the stupid features is crazy. The site reminds me of a scenario where you meet someone and think they are one way, yet they turn out to be completely different. Read the rest of my review. Find out about the process and more importantly find out why it’s not a good site.
Joining Hot Or Not
The join process is pretty simple. To sign up for HotorNot, you just type in your first name, date of birth, city, gender and the type of person you are looking to connect with on the site. Your choices are to make new friends, chat or date. The first thing you are asked is if you want to find people that you know. You are given a chance to access your e-mail account to better connect with existing members you might know. If this doesn’t interest you, just skip this step. You can add photos from here. The site gives you the option to upload photos from your Facebook, Instagram or Google accounts. Most importantly, you have to click on a link that is sent to your e-mail to complete registration. I started getting messages from girls soon after I clicked on that link. That pretty much sums up the signup process.
This would be a nice app to use if you could interact with people. Sadly, I don’t think I interacted with many real people at all. You don’t get to interact with anyone without paying and once you pay you either get ignored or don’t get a straight answer. The people that seemed to be real, just kind of stopped messaging me. For all I know, they were employees or fake people. I was getting messages from girls who said they were in their 30’s but they barely looked legal as well. You can say yes or no based on someone’s looks. They used to have a rating system where people rate you on how you look but I don’t think that worked out too well. It all just seemed like a big mess once I got inside and started looking around. It seemed cool at first but when the chatting went south, I immediately knew this site wasn’t for me.
Any real people that I encountered on HotorNot seemed to be scammers who only wanted to take my money, not date me. If you learn some of the warning signs, you can avoid being scammed like this. They are usually really hot girls that look way out of your league. Their grammar sucks when messaging and their approach is insanely awkward and too forthcoming. They come on way stronger than you are used to. You pay and they ignore you. This is more of the same type of traditional scamming put into a modern designed site. I wasn’t impressed with HotorNot. I wish the site owners would have used their technology to actually help real users connect with real people.
It did seem like there were some real people at HotorNot but didn’t have any luck getting to them. It seems like a fun site, but it’s just a money drainer. You never know if you are getting a computer generated message, an employee of the site or a person trying to scam you or get you to watch their webcam. You can feel free to try it if you like, but after my experience, I don’t think it’s worth it.
Conclusion: HotorNot Is Not Hot At All
Try it for yourself (but I personally wouldn’t) and see how far you get before you have to pay or before you get sick and tired of all the spammers on the site. HotorNot makes it easy to join and look around. I just hope that you know what to look for now and you can avoid being taken advantage of. There are a lot of apps out there that genuinely connect people. I’d highly suggest that you find a quality service and know that you have to pay for results. Hey, at least you’ll know that what you’re getting into is 100% legit. Don’t join Hotornot.com. Don’t waste your money on this site. I’ve got suggestions that will actually lead to dating and hooking up.
