Have you ever heard of a site called Christian Mingle? If not, you’re about to become familiar with it. The online dating scene has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years and there are sites to cover a wide range of interests and dating fetishes. One section for singles that’s becoming more and more prominent in the Internet dating scenes is dating geared toward religious preferences. ChristianMingle.com is supposed to be a site where people of the Christian faith can find each other. I’m not exactly a “practicing” Christian, but I tried it out just so I could report back to my readers. I suggest you find out if Christian Mingle is legit or not before you join.
I Joined Christian Mingle, Here’s My Review
I found Christian Mingle to have some of the same unscrupulous practices as many bogus dating sites that are just there to take your money. This is especially shameful considering that the site is geared toward people of faith. They obviously have not read the commandments about not lying or stealing, but I digress. This site is owned by Spark Networks which is the same company that owns Spark.com, JDate.com and BlackSingles.com. It’s just another dating site that promises to get you a date then concentrates more on taking your money. One of the most unscrupulous of their practices is reusing your pictures and profile info. They reserve the right to share them with the other sites on the network and make additional money off of you. That is not cool at all. I mean, really, I joined to mingle with Christians, not to have my personal information blasted out on other dating sites. This proves that they obviously have fake profiles that they got from other sites that are part of the network. I can’t tell you how made this type of activity makes me.
Obtaining A Christianmingle.com Log In
To start the sign-up process, all I had to do was share my gender, zip code, country, and input a valid e-mail address. Then I simply clicked, “browse free now.” This is obviously just a front to make you think it’s easy to sign up because the next page asked me for my gender once again. Then it asked me for my country and zip code again (kinda ridiculous). I then had to share my relationship status with the community. My choices were Single, Divorced, and Widowed. I knew that this wasn’t a typical hookup site that I was accustomed to joining so I just checked off single. I was then asked how often I smoke, my height, education level, and a few more faith-based questions. For example, I had to share which church I belonged to, how often I attended church, and how many children I had. After all of that, I was able to finally create a username and password and start creating my profile. It is kind of an exhausting signup process before you even get to a profile. I didn’t get mad though. I know it’s a pain joining mainstream sites so I just went along with it.
There is definitely no shortage of messages once you log in to Christian Mingle. The messages are not sent all at once so that you look more authentic. They are sent to you at various times throughout the day. When I looked at all these messages, not one of them seemed genuine. It seemed like pretty much all of them were just prompting me to pay for a membership. I don’t even think they use real people to deceive you. They send you computer generated messages that look quite typical. When you try to respond, you just get another computer generated message in return or nothing at all. In fact, based on some of the other reviews that I’ve read, it’s not uncommon for people to get scammed using this site. I found one story about a girl that lost $20,000 from this site. That would certainly ruin my day!
I have to be honest. I thought that, since this was a Christian dating site, it would be a little more reliable. Maybe I was naïve to think that a site that claims to be geared toward Christians would be a little more honest than a lot of scam sites out there. Boy, was I wrong. Not only do they deceive you with fake profiles and computer generated messages, they also deceive you by taking your information and pictures and using them to scam someone else on another site. Actually, the more I think about it, there are plenty of people trying to deceive others regardless of whether or not they are Christian. It’s quite possible that they site just isn’t equipped to manage all the scam-like activity that so many legit dating sites are able to control and avoid. Either that or they simply don’t care.
Meeting Members In Person
You would be much more likely to hook up with a single Christian by going to your local church and hanging out in the parking lot afterward. When you log into Christian Mingle, you’ll be lucky to interact with a real person at all, much less a Christian who shares your beliefs and values. This being a Christian dating site is just another front to hide their scamming practices and reach a target audience. Like I said, I’m not that religious, so I wasn’t going to keep using it because I knew I wasn’t going to be able to get lucky on any of the first dates. I still felt the need to expose the truth to you.
Conclusion: Do NOT Join Christian Mingle
I really shouldn’t say that this site is deceitful because they do lay out some of the facts in their terms and conditions. However, a site that would use your faith and not be completely upfront in black and white is wrong. A scamming site is never a good thing, but this is especially seedy and questionable. I’m not saying that you will definitely not find a good Christian to date at ChristianMingle.com. I’m just saying that your chances are not very good at all and you may have to spend an arm and a leg and a lot of time to do it. During the time I spent on the site, I saw no reason to pursue it. Only reasons to stay away because of the many tactics they use to fool you. If I were you, I’d look myself in the mirror and ask, “Am I really joining this site to meet a Christian, or do I want to hookup with someone and this is just where I’m comfortable doing so?” If you’re joining to just meet someone to date and have a good time, heck maybe even a short fling of some sort, then I can recommend a few sites for you to join. If not, well, I’m sorry I couldn’t help you out.
If you want to take a walk on the casual dating and wild side, then I suggest that you join one of the sites below. It’s going to be a huge change of pace but you might enjoy it?
